Glass Sword is the second book in the “Red Queen” Series. You can read my review on Red Queen HERE!
I fell in love with this series for many reason and I picked up the second book so excited for more!
This book does not disappoint! Let’s Dive In!
“If there is one thing Mare Barrow knows, it’s that she is different.
Mare Barrow blood is red – the colour of common folk – but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control.
The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from Maven, the prince – the friend – who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: She is not the only one of her kind.
Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors. But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat.
The electrifying next instalment in the Red Queen series escalates the struggle between the growing rebel army and the blood-serging red world they’ve always known – and pits Mare against the darkness that had grown in her soul.”
Victoria Aveyard does an incredible job of creating a universe. This world is amazing.
There are so many elements. The biggest thing that stands out is the detail.
I mentioned this in my review of Red Queen, but I cannot get enough of the abilities. The powers that each character has is very unique but believable.
Mare Barrow’s Character Arc continues
and I love it. She is a young girl thrown into the a world filled many unknowns. She is betrayed. Mare has no idea what she is doing but she is trying.
I can’t really say much as there is a big plot twist in Red Queen that sets this books on its path. I don’t want to spoil anything!
Mare has to make decision that are not for the faint of heart. She is treading on the line of good and evil. I am here for it!
I want her to accomplish all her goals but I am scared for her. She has made so many decision that she cannot come back from. Each choice has a toll.
The Ending Leaves Me Wanting More
I will pick up King’s Cage on my next book hall because I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!
